A man is going to a new town and comes to a fork in the road. If he goes left, he goes to the liars’ village. If he goes right, he then goes to the village of truths – which is where he wants to go. However, he does not know which way is which.
He doesn’t have time to go both routes, so he approaches a stranger who is standing in the middle of the fork. The stranger says he may only ask 3 questions and he will answer them.
The man asks, “Are you from the village of truths?” The stranger says, “Yes!” However, the man is still facing a dilemma: If the stranger was from the village of truths he can only tell the truth, but if he was from the village of liars, he would say he was from the village of truth.
So then he asks the stranger, “Are you telling the truth?” The stranger says, “Yes!” But sadly this leaves the man in the same position as before.
What should be his 3rd and the last question to know the Truth?
Click Here to give your Answers!!
One question is enough to know the truth. No need for three.
IF I ASK YOUR FRIEND OVER THERE TO SHOW ME THE ROAD TO TRUTH ,WHAT WOULD HE SHOW ME?
Then he takes the opposite of the answer because in all case the man is a liar.
If he is truthful he will give the answer of the liar ( if I ask your friend)
If he is a liar he isn’t going to say the true answer of his friend.
So take the opposite.
The third question should be “Kindly accompany me to my destination.:
The original riddle is like that.
After death, en route, there are two roads one leading to hell and the other one to heaven. Each route is guarded by an angel. One tells lies always and the other, truth always. You can ask only one question and should find the way leading to heaven. What will be the question be?
I ask him if I expire my asks or not if he tells me that it left one he is a truth man else he is a liar.
He shud ask him ” Are u a man ? if he is from the village of truth, he must say Yes.
The right answer is this: The man will ask the stranger “which village do you belong to?”
In either case he is going to tell the village of truth. Because if he is a liar he will say, that he belongs to the village of Truth.
And if he is already from village of truth he will say it correctly.
Thanks to all our Readers who contributed & made this discussion interesting and waited patiently for the answer 🙂
Ali, seems that you are from the village of liars 😉
But which direction?
Which direction is your village?
if he is from village of truth, he’ll point correctly,
if he is from village of liars, he’ll point to village of truth again.
Yup. You got it right.
the next question will be “which way leads back to the truth village?
It’s so simple the thired Question will be that!
Q: If i Ask this Question from the other Village man so which one way will he show me for the village of truths?
so after this Question he will move on the other way the the man didn’t pointed ……
i think you guys Got it now 😛 enjoy
Hf H ask your opposite man from other city where are you from? what he will tell me? any answer I will choose the opposite answer.
What if he is telling you the truth?
Hf H ask your opposite man from other city where are you from? what he will tell me? any answer I will choose the opposite answer? why if he is the truth one I ask him about the answer of liar, and if he is the liar one he willn’t give the right answer what ever the answer I choose the opposite.
Next question:
Did you reply yes?
If he says yes, he is from village truth
if he says no, he is from village lie.
The Question would be: if he is from the Village of the Truth, Which way the Sun go down and raises From?
Simply, I’d would ask him where is the direction of your village, and whatever the direction he will point at it will be the right one, hence if he was saying the truth then he will point at his village, and if he was laying he will point also to the opposite direction, which is the village of truth
Dear Sara;
What is the correct answer?
Please let us know.
Thank you.
Mokhtar
Q#3. is “how many Questions I said to you?”
if he said 2 then he is from village of truth. and if he speak something else then he is confirm belong to village of Liars 🙂
the question is…….. where do u live?
If I would ask the liar from your town which is the right way which way he would point
Whatever way he points he will go the opposite way
the third question should be where is the way to your village, whichever way he points at is the way to the village of truths, because since he claims to be from the village of truths he will point at the correct way, but if he lied because he is actually from the village of liars, then he will liar and point at the way to the viillage of truths, period.
I should ask the stranger the following quotation :
If I asked a person from the other village of the stranger village which way I should take
what answer the stranger will give, Then I will take the opposite for what he answered me regardless from which village he is
This traveller’s 3rd Q should be : ” if i ask anyone frhom either villages where is the truths’ village, what would anyone answer?” And this traveller should follow the opposite direction.. This should be the only Q from the beginning.. Do U like or need to explain?? Please first think about all possibilities and U will agree with me.. See u w love..

there is no right or wrong question here. what matters is to take the opposite of the answer is given to you…if they say go right, you go left…etc
He should tell the stranger that he is a cap, and would like to go to the village of truths, so the stranger will guide him to the direction of the village of truths in both cases, whether he is from the liars or from the truths.
He needs to ask one question:
“If I ask someone from the other village where is the liars village, what would he/she say?”.
So if he was from the truth village he would show the truth way (right) because he knows the other village has liars and they would say that, and, if he was from the liars village he would also show the truth way (right) because he would lie, so in both cases no matter where the man came from he with the above question, he would be give the answer he wants.
This is my answer too. This is most logical
He should ask him: “Point to me which way to where you live”. He should follow the way the stranger will point to.
Rational: If he is from the liars village he will point to the truths village. While if he is from the truth village he will point to the truth village also.
I feel there is no need to ask the 3 questions because the stranger needs to ask the man regarding the way from which he came. For example ask him the way for village he already passed by and came to the fork. If he speak shows the correct direction you have your answer.
The stranger should ask the man weather road the stranger followed to arrived the fork if follow back will lead to either of the village, becouse the road he followed was the only thing he is sured of.when the man respond to the strangers question with yes/no the stranger having known the road he followed should be able to determine where the man he was asking came from thank you
Very simple. .
Just ask him that “The villagers from truth are liars right? ”
If he said yes he is from village of liars
If he said no he is from village of truth
spot on Riyas Babu..
However, he could also ask is it day or night? or am i a man or woman? and could base his conclusion on the reply.. but your question is quite accurate!
Which is the way to the Village of Liars?
It should be where do you live. The man in both cases will point towards the Village of Truth
Great Owais. The best Answer and the simplest.
Agreed
the next question should be : tell which way leads to your village ? if he is a liar he will point to the road which does not lead to the village of liars therefore he will point to the path to the village of truth and if he is truthful then he will point to the road to the village of the truthful.
The man points to the road he came from and asks the stranger if this road is to the village of truth: if the answer is “yes” then he is a liar, but if it is “No” then he is telling the truth.
Silly! The point is that liars do not lie all the time ,they lie most of the time; and maybe this time was honest.
First thing in my mind comes that I would asked for the ID for the person to know his residing side. loll !
But, Amanullah Khan’s explaination seems correct.
Thanks Sara for sharing…
I appreciate the logical analysis of Mr. Amanullah Khan
He should point out to the right turn and ask: Is this the road to your village? If he says, yes, follow the right turn. If he says no, follow the left side road. The logic is as follows:
If he is from the liars’ village, and he says yes, it means that the road goes to the village of truth. If he is from the village of truth and he says yes, again it means that the road goes to the desired destination.
If he is from from the liars’ village and says no, it means that the pointed road goes to the liars’ village, so it should not be followed. If he is from the village of truths and says no, the road should not be followed.
As he already know that right turn will lead him to the village of truth, therefore no need to ask any question.
