This is a true story that happened in Saudi Arabia.
A Saudi man has divorced his wife because she ignored his WhatsApp message, according to a report in local media.
The husband was quoted as saying that his wife was so busy with mobile phone calls to her relatives and friends that she did not have time to take care of their children and home.
However, the husband said he was convinced she was negligent because he had seen that she had read his message. This is because WhatsApp has blue ticks showing that a message has been read. If a message is not read, then the ticks remain grey, he said.
The woman reportedly said that she did not reply to her husband because she had many phone calls to make at the time.
A study by the UK-based online services company, Divorce Online, reported that more than one third of divorces in 2011 were linked to addiction to the social networking site Facebook.
Another study based, on an opinion poll conducted by Pew Research Center earlier this year, showed that one out of four husbands said that smart phones diverted their attention away from their partners. Others said that the Internet brought loving people together.

Sure, I am totally agree that the smart phone has diverted the attention of our wives. Now they are not caring their kids

IT is TRUE that many conflicts in family life happens because of mis-adventure or attention to “other” things or people and leading to divorces..
Social media is not one and alone the cause of it..
in such cases both are responsible..
may be woman paying more attention to husbands needs or gossiping.. as such. when there was no social media.. in India and everywhere.. women have their social clubs or sit out of homes – gather and talk nonsense about entire society.. was that not prevalent since centuries…
a joke in this regards.. if you want to hold (or spread the gossip ) the secret to some one .. (not to spread) TELL a WOMEN and it will spread like wildfire..

I agree that present Social media gadgets are distracting. On the other hand, maintaining bondage through marriage is more important and Divorce should not be resorted to for trivial reasons.
That’s right. I wish that was not the only reason for divorcing, but maybe the husband gave her warnings many times. And finally he took that step. Allah knows best. Women should be very careful in this regard.

I think it will be wiser if the hasband remove the mobile phone from his wife and keep his family together. The mobile (smart phone) is an accessory might eliviatr to necessary sometimes but not as important as keeping the family together. If I were under his hat, I will get red of that evil gadget.

We, partners must respect each other. They are a loving partner. Nothing should affect this relationship. In old age, we need a life partner. No one else can help in that age when both need each other.
That’s very true. We should not take our relationships so easily and do whatever it takes to protect them.
It is true that the social networks are big problem between partners because it take most of their times and the misunderstanding start when each of them ignore the other. I suggest that one day a week switch off all phones, relax and pay attention to each other.
