What Is Wrong With My Niece ? A True Story !

(This is a true story that happened in India. Make sure you read it. It could happen to your kid too…)

Alright, here goes the story of my niece who is currently studying in 2nd standard.

Some brief background:

In India we have our schooling system divided into 3 parts

1. Kinder-garten (Nursery, prep , ukg, lkg)
2. Junior grade (1st to 5th)
3. Senior grade (6th to 10/12th)

So basically kinder-garten is the part wherein you learn A B C D, colors and stuff majorly.

Junior grade is the part wherein you learn to write in your notebooks for the first time using a pencil and an eraser.

Senior grade is the part wherein you are fed with thoughts of becoming an engineer and earn shit loads of money but well this is not the part of this small yet funny incident.

So my niece finished kinder-garten and got admitted in one of the top schools as she was able to recite her ABCD’s well pretty quickly and yes her mother being a professor ( Well all the junior grade admission issues okay another topic).

So the first day when the girl comes from school her mother asks her after a while

” Beta Aaj kya padhaya mam ne.. copy laao dikhao zara ”
( Child, What did your teacher teach you today, come here show us your notebook )

The child quickly runs, grabs her notebook hands it over and goes to play. Her mother opens it to find blank empty pages inside.
On a closer look she realized the pages were not actually totally blank. They had
some scribbling on them but they had been rubbed using an eraser.
So for the first day she thinks it to be a case of normal mischief by someone or maybe wanting to use her fancy eraser she did it herself.

Next day again the same thing.

After a week strange thoughts started coming to her mother like are there any serious issues, is somebody pressurizing her in school and stuff ( P.S. I hope people may have the idea to the lengths of imagination a mother can think for her little one)

Finally after a couple of weeks you have the Parents teacher interaction wherein the child sits with the parents to discuss with the teacher his/her progress.

When this topic comes up the child is asked repeatedly the same question again .

Finally she slowly whimpers

“Mam, main to wahi sab karti jo aap karti hain”
( Mam, I do the same thing as you do )

For couple of minutes there was no answer
and
then it stuck to her mother that just as the teacher erases the board after its filled up the obedient student did the same in her notebook.

Moral of the Story: Keep a check on your kid’s Schoolwork. Make sure you check their notebooks every now and then 😀
