I Almost Sold My Faith – Amazing Story!

Several years ago a preacher moved to a new city. He often took the bus from his home to the shopping center. A month after he arrived, he was riding the same bus near his house. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him 25 cents extra, while returning the change.

As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, you better give the 25 cents back. It would be wrong to keep it. Then he thought, “Oh, forget it, it’s such a small amount. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway the bus company already gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a gift from God and keep quiet.”

When his stop came, the preacher paused momentarily at the door, then he handed the 25 cents back to the driver and said, “Here, you gave me too much change”. The driver with a smile, replied,”Aren’t you the new preacher in this area? I have been thinking lately about meeting you to learn something from you.I just wanted to see what you would do, if I gave you too much change.”

When the preacher, stepped off the bus, his knees became weak and soft, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, and held on for support, and looked up to the heavens and cried: “Oh God, I almost sold my faith for 25 cents!”

Dear Readers, please give a fitting Moral to the story!!

Religion teaches us the higher values of life including honesty.
The preacher did convince the driver of his honesty.
Even though the preacher’s conscience did click in at the last minute, he should not have even contemplated withholding the extra money in the first place.

Religion teaches us the higher values of life, including being honest at all times and under any circumstance. The impact of returning the extra money to the driver would have even been stronger if the driver had not given it intentionally to test the honesty of the preacher..
The preacher on the other hand should not have even contemplated keeping the money, even though his conscience awakened at the end.

I was at a hypermarket in Dubai & when my turn came I was zapped for a few seconds as I noticed a Golden Credit Card lying below & maybe being stamped all along. I picked up, looked at the expiry date which mentioned 2017. i was in two minds, either to give the cashier in front of me or the customer service @ the entrance, but not happy as what if it would not get to it’s rightful owner & be misused. I walked all the way to the ADCB (Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank) & informed the local lady at the reception & requested the ctc no of the owner, but she looked at me with suspicion & questioned me, where is the Credit Card & I showed her. She immediately contacted & it was the husband who was on line, as it was supplementary card & she sternly told him to come & collect the card by evening closing time or it will be cancelled. I did not expect any thanks from her, as the Almighty watched what we do, but she was still staring @ me, which was annoying & i left

It happened to me, I found a large amount in a place where there was no way to find the real owner. I could have returned it to a nearby “lost & found” office but I thought that real owner may not come to claim the money and it will go to the pockets of office staff, so might as well keep it for yourself.
After a few days my son became seriously ill an the hope of survival was slimming down, then I realized it may be a warning/punishment from Allah swt. I repented sincerely before Him and gave the entire amount to a mosque with intention that reward be given to the owner of the money.

I repented the best way I could think of…. but it makes me ashamed and sad till today. Alhamdulillah my son got well.

It happened to me while I was 7 years old. There is a shop in front of our home and the shopkeeper give me extra to test my honesty or may be by chance. I return it back because my mother teach us to stay honest at any cost.
Any way the shopkeeper teach us several lesson that I get remembering today while using it in real life.
    Thanks to him.

I heard this before, only the passenger was a Muslim, and the bus driver wanted to see weather the Muslims were honest. Anyway I feel if I took something dishonestly, I would lose something greater, so I try never to lie or cheat, I keep my word and I pray ALLAH gives me the strength to carry on in this manor, and inshallah may ALLAH grant all the Muslims to follow the Sunna’s of the prophet Mohammed ( peace be upon him).

I love it! Actually, it happens to us too! Sometimes, we are tempted to keep what belongs to others then we think it’s the devil who pushes us toward bad things so we give the thing back to people and we feel good to have avoided doing evil things! Great story indeed!!!

If you got 1cent illegal and use it to gain more mony it will make all your future mony illegal

If you are an accountant or get the help of an accountant, you’ll be advised that what you gained more than what you deserve as your legal right has been lost illegally and even more. I believe that we have to be satisfied and thankful for what we gain legally and honestly. What comes to you is a test for your faith and is enough for what you did. It is worthless to loose our faith for few illegal money which will go the way it came.
