Many years ago in a small Chinese village, a villager had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to the local moneylender. The moneylender , who was old and ugly, fancied the villager’s beautiful daughter. So he proposed a bargain. He said he would forgo the villager’s debt if he could marry his daughter. Both the poor villager and his daughter were horrified by the Proposal.
So the cunning money-lender suggested that they let luck decide the matter. He told them that he would put a black stone and a white stone into an empty money bag. Then the girl would have to pick one stone from the bag.
1) If she picked the black stone, she would become his wife and her father’s debt would be forgiven.
2) If she picked the white stone she need not marry him and her father’s debt would still be forgiven.
3) But if she refused to pick a stone, her father would be thrown into jail.
They were standing in a place which was full of black and white stones. As they talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two stones. As he picked them up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two Black stones and put them into the bag. He then asked the girl to pick a stone from the bag.
Now, imagine that you were standing in the field. What would you have done if you were the girl? If you had to advise her, what would you have told her?

She should show his cheating. But first of all she should say i want to see u have placed both stone and if find any cheating i ll be free
she should take out a stone and swallow that stone without showing to anyone,,,, and then they will find the remaining stone in the bag to find out that which stone she had picked it will surely be a black stone in the bag,,,, so eventually it will be the considered that she had picked the white stone that she had swallowed after picking from the bag,, thats all.

She should pick one stone and drop it on the ground showing that she has accidentally dropped it and pick a white one from the ground.Now the old man cannot say that it was a black stone as the black one is in the bag.

the girl should put a white stone in her clouth sleeve, and when she put her hand in the bag pick it up, that will make money lender surprised then he have 2 situations one is to reject and releave hemself and the truth, the outher soluation is to to keep silent while the girls will save herself and her father.
First, she should pick one from the bag and let no one see the stone
Then, she have to throgh it a way, so nobady knows the picked stone.
However, the picked stone should be the oppeste, in color, to the stone that is in the bag.
So, the lender will have to show the stone in the bag.
and he cannot say that both stones are black because it will apper that he cheate. Yet, the girl will be saved becase she picked and through the white stone as the other people thinks.

Let her choose one stone and fix with him to choose the other stone also.make clause with him that If the other stone is white , she will marry him and shall pay full money also. If the other stone is also black, she will not marry and he has to pay the same amount to her again.

If she picked a stone and pretended to drop it, she would have cheated like the old man. We must not cheat. The thing to do is for the girl and her father to complain after observing the old man’s trick and insist that he must show the stones for all to be assured there are one black and one white stone before putting them in the bag. If the girl picks the white stone, she and her father are fortunate. That’s their fate. If she picks the black stone, she and her father must accept their fate as such. He has to pay a price for his indebtedness.
The girl should quickly drop the stone after picking it so as to lose it in dust or sand. The other stone, left in the bag, will determine which one she picked. And since the other stone is also black, it will entail that the girl picked the white one and thus she will be saved herself and also waive off her father’s debt 🙂

There are two counter proposals by the girl to money lender
She would ask the money lender to take out one stone from the bag and if it would be white then she would marry with him. OR
She herself would take out one stone from the bag and if the left one in the bag would be white then she will happily marry with him.
In such way she can save herself to marry with old ugly man.

to pick up one stone from the bag and pretend that it was fell on the ground by mistake, then they have to look in the bag to see the remaining stone colour to know the coulour of the stone which fallen on the ground which was picked by the girl. beauty aone cannot be the only craterion fo selecion of marriage partners. If she is inclined to marry him in principle then why not just to accept him without any tricks? If she is willing to take risk then he process should b transparent and an honest neutral perso/judge should be trusted/agreed upon by both parties to led the process. I would pick a stone and let it fall on the ground amid the plentiful stone and ask the onlookers to verify what is left in the bag. A black stone need necessarily be in the bag which mean that she picked a white one(meaning that she need not marry the money lender and the debt of his father is cleared)

I agree with Alya and also give another solution. She would take the bag first and tell the moneylender -as he is older and respectable- to take a stone but on the contrary condition.that the white stone means marriage and the black stone means freedom .
The girl supposed to remove both stones 1. for the dept. to be written off and 2. to show that the lender was chitin.

I agree with Ashraf Tawfik Hayes’ solution, however, I would advise her to take a black stone out of the bag as well, but to only show the white one she initially put her hand in the bag with,once she takes her hand out of the bag.
There are other solutions in my mind as well, but require a longer explanation.
I think that she has to stop the process just before picking a stone and ask for a small change, so that will be “leaving her and forgetting about the debt” if she picked the black stone (no difference, the same probability, and the lender can not refuse).
I would act as if the ball I picked fall on the ground, then if they were actually two stones, one white and one black then the one she picked is suposed to be the white since the black i still in the bag
If I were the girl , I would pick a white stone from the ground and hide it carefully between my fingers . I would insert my hand , with the white stone , into the bag , then , pretend to pick it out of the bag.
