The Old Folks Home – Thought Provoking Short Story

Woman, Old, Age, Retirement Home, Dementia, Alzheimer'SAfter father’s death…
Son decides to leave his mother to an old folks home. He used to visit her once a month which later reduced to once a year.

One day son receives a call from old folks home. The care-taker informs him that his mother is very serious and asks him to come and visit her.

Son goes and finds his mother in very critical condition, on the verge of death.

He asks his mother “Is there anything that I can do for you?”

Mother replies, “Please install some fans in this old folks home as there are none”

Son asks surprisingly, “You spent all your days without any fan and never complained about it. Now that you are on the verge of death and have just a few hours left you are asking me to do it why?”

Mother says, “That’s right. I have managed with the heat, but I am concerned for you, when your children will send you here, I am afraid you will not be able to manage it”

Son hung his head in shame

How is it possible that a person can leave his parents in a home and live his life without guilt. It’s heartless. . . it’s unbelieveable

Unfortunately such people do exist and they are significant in number and that is evident if one looks at the number of old people living in the old age homes 🙁

Your parents wash you, feed you, teach you, care for you and raise you until you are old enough to look after yourself. Without them you wouldn’t be alive and people have the audacity to send their parents to an old folks home. It really is disgusting and shame on them. Is dunyaand all its material things more important to them than their own father and mother?

The only love that is unconditional, unlimited and not waiting for a return is Mother’s love. For such a reason: Heaven is under the feet of your mother!!

Parents are not out of the shell when we say FAMILY. They are in. They must be given more priority in love and caring than the younger ones in the family. So by this way let our children learn how to treat the parents!

    please remember my dearest,
They are the one who observed our first breath,
It is our duty to observe their last breath.

Those who sent your parent to old folks Home, please have a frequest visit.
Find your time. there is not in the vocabulary there is no time.
The time is flexible to suit one’s convenient.
No body in this world has more than 24hours a day or 7 days a week
Or more than 365 days a week.

What goes around comes around. Islam asks us to be specifically NICE to our parents and tolerate them when they age.
This is so that our children will tolerate us and their children will tolerate them………

It is really shame to send one’s parent to the Old folks home, parents need the company of their children and would love to stay with them in whatever condition it might be rather then staying Lavishly in OLD FOLKS HOME.

Just shows how much parents can care, how little children care. Lesson to learn: what goes around, comes around.
