Watch Your Actions – A Great Reminder !

2633659324_e3a62f9956Some years ago, a learned  pious man was invited to start a children’s healthy charity organization at a city nearby. One day after a day full of  charity work, the man boarded a bus so he could return home. One the ride back, he discovered the bus driver had accidentally given him an extra 50 pence in change. He considered what to do and thought to himself “should I return this extra change to the driver?”. Then he thought. “ Oh why should I? I could keep it for myself. After all, I do charity work all day… I deserve SOME credit. Not to mention, these bus company people get too much fare. It’s overpriced, they won’t miss a few coins.”

He decided to accept it as a “gift for his hard work” and kept quiet on the entire ride home. However, when he was about to get off the bus, he hesitated and paused momentarily at the door and looked at the coins in his pocket and thought “Was this the right thing to do….?” Finally, he gave in to his pious nature and spoke to the driver ‘Here, you gave me too much  change.” The driver smiled and asked “ Aren’t you the same guy who  is the head of the charity organization?” The man replied quizzically, “Why yes I am, why does that matter though?” The driver grinned even wider. “ Well, I have been wondering for quite a while whether your organization is worth supporting. I have a friend who has trusted me with a hundred thousand pounds to donate to a charity. I was testing you today to see whether you would be trustworthy enough to donate the hundred thousand to.  See you tomorrow at the bank. And with a wave, he and his bus disappeared down the lane.

When the man got off the bus, he grabbed onto the nearest light pole, totally shaken up by what he had just heard. A h-h-undred thousand? He stammered. He could only imagine how many children  that could be cured in a hundred thousand! Oh I nearly  diverted a man from donating money and earning good rewards. All over 50 pence!”

Moral of the Story

Your actions can either encourage or discourage someone from doing a good deed and you will be held responsible for it So take care of your actions.

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny

The minute little acts we take for granted could cost us our reputation. Can only imagine the dilemma of the pious man.

May Allaah guide us against the little but disgraceful acts of disobedience, ameen.

    Thanks as always!

Nice story! One more thing that the story reflects is that Devil is always there to distract us from the right path. But those who have strong faith in GOD, do not get into the trap placed by the devil for them.

If you are honest in work, try to discharge your duties with honesty and wisdom without waiting for the results. If you make your habit like that, then definitely at the end the result will be good which you never thought of.
Continue your good deeds as Almighty has chosen you for this noble work…

Since I am following this web-site for years now, my sincere advise for this website and it’s admins to remove the copy protection.
This site goal is fun and jocks, not secret strategic weapons the needs secrecy agreements.
The fun in any jock that I read it, laugh at it, then share it with others. Same for wisdom/ moral stories. It’s good to share them.
If members use your policy in first place then they will not share their stories with FFJ.
Actually I am giving my advise because I can see no point of this protection. only loosing popularity of this site.

BTW, even with this protection, if people want to copy the web content they still can.

For example only “Some years ago, a learned pious man was invited to start a children’s healthy charity organization at a city nearby. One day after a day full of charity work, the man boarded a bus so he could return home. One the ride back, he discovered the bus driver had accidentally given him an extra 50 pence in change. Many thanks.

Well, there is a share option available, if you wish to share the stuff available on FFJ website with anyone. So in my opinion, there is no need to open the copy option. 🙂

      • Sana - Editor FFJ March 25, 2014 at 10:21 AM #

Thank you very much for replying on our behalf, Mr. Saad 🙂

        • Mohammed March 25, 2014 at 11:19 AM #

To MR. Saad and Ms Sana,

I was just giving you my advise from my long experience in Marketing as it’s my profession.
The case here is not Who is right or wrong.
I am well aware about share option, but when it comes to success stories, the end user feeling is the key even if it’s not 100% correct.
That how sites getting so popular and others just vanish after while.
Focus on your targets not on your rules.
If our goal to gain more popularity for FFJ, then the feeling of readers does matter much more than copy/share thing.
At the end, as final word, ask yourself why Facebook or twitter are not disabling the copy thing 🙂
          Regards.

Bro, Your advices and opinions are respectable to me (and I am sure to FFJ either).. 🙂

Life is worth living so long as the conscience is functioning.
I disagree with the notion that a pious man is not open to temptation, but since his morals overcame his material desires, his piety served its purpose.

  16. Stephen March 18, 2014 at 4:04 PM #

Excellent one. I expected the pious man to punish himself for even allowing the thought of keeping the change come to his mind, but it was timely action which saved all & the evil was defeated.
