A thought provoking story about putting our trust in God Almighty and our approach towards understanding it.
Once a boy saw a pigeon whose wings were cut and it could not fly. He thought to himself, “Poor thing, from where shall it get its food so it can survive?” Hardly a moment had passed when he saw a hawk carrying some prey in its beak. The hawk came closer, landed and fed the pigeon. Seeing this, the man thought “this is how God Almighty provides for His Creatures. So why should I worry about earning a living? God will provide for me.”So he decided to sit down and remain idle. Days passed and the person didn’t get anything.
A wise man passing by said to him, “O servant of God you were shown two birds, one injured pigeon and a hawk, why did you prefer to become like the pigeon? Why did you not think about becoming like the hawk who not only eats himself, but also feeds the others who are in need?”
This Story illustrates that the real way of “Putting trust in God” doesn’t mean one should give up their means of livelihood if they can very well use them. Man should not forget that God Himself gave him this means of livelihood and he is expected not to sit idle instead use the means given by God in the best ways possible, work hard and make his living. Man’s case is like the hawk. He is supposed to not just fulfill his own needs, but also provide for others. And those who provide for others God provides them with the best of their needs.
Moral of the Story – Be a Hawk ! Aim at flying high on your OWN wings and seek for God’s blessings by exploring His world and also provide for oppressed and needy.
