Once a saint saw a man with a bandage tied round his leg & making noises out of pain.
“Why have you tied the bandage?” he asked.
“Because I have a wound on my leg” the man replied. “How old are you?” the saint demanded.
“28 years old” he replied. “Have you been in pain and anguish the greater part of your life?” he inquired. “No,” the man answered.
“For thirty years you have enjoyed good health,” he remarked, “and you never tied the bandage of thankfulness. Now because of this one small wound, that you have, you tie the bandage of complaint!”
Moral: Always be thankful to God in all situations of life. And don’t complain for just a small problem.

We should always be thankful. If we have something against our wish it could be good for us but we don’t know but only God knows (he is the All knowing and All wise). We should learn to be thankful and patiant with no complaints.
hmmm.. what did the saint want of him? to not tie the bandage when in pain?
either that or he wanted the young man to remember the goodness in his life and see how great they were which would make him forget about the pain…
seriously, I think the saint was over-reacting. The young man was acting how anyone in pain would. He wasn’t being arrogant or complaining to God. The saint, on the other hand had an ethically condescending view of the young man assuming that he never thanked god in happy times. His advice could have been framed in better words coupled with words of patience. After all, he’s a “saint” and one expects a better show from him.
