A Short Inspirational Story

A man stopped at a flower shop to order some flowers to be wired to his mother who lived two hundred miles away.

As he got out of his car he noticed a young girl sitting on the curb sobbing.

He asked her what was wrong and she replied, “I wanted to buy a red rose for my mother.

But I only have seventy-five cents, and a rose costs two dollars.”

The man smiled and said, “Come on in with me. I’ll buy you a rose.”

He bought the little girl her rose and ordered his own mother’s flowers.

As they were leaving he offered the girl a ride home.

She said, “Yes, please! You can take me to my mother.”

She directed him to a cemetery, where she placed the rose on a freshly dug grave.

The man returned to the flower shop, canceled the wire order, picked up a bouquet and drove the two hundred miles to his mother’s house.

A short incidence that happened with me: it was time for me to massage my mom. But I’m asthmatic and at that moment I was having a wheezy cough and didn’t think I’d have the strength to do a massage… if my mom knew I didn’t feel strong enough, she’d never let me message her. So I could easily have told her that and excused myself. But at that moment I remembered how important Allah has made it for us to be kind and be of service to our parents, and especially how the mother is most deserving of it. So I thought – okay I’ll try my best to massage her anyway. My mother is more important than my cough.

So I sat down to start the massage, and then – very literally – I felt fresh breaths of air in my lungs, almost like when you take a puff of Ventolin inhaler, and my cough finished and I was perfectly fine and able to massage her without any issue.

A very personal and small story, but mothers truly are worthy of our love and affection – the troubles and pains they’ve gone through for us are so great, whatever we do for them is always going to be small in comparison.

Also, another moral: Allah helps us do what’s best even if we don’t think we can, we just have to fix our intention and He’ll see us through it.

Your Lord has decreed: (i) Do not worship any but Him; (ii) Be good to your parents; and should both or any one of them attain old age with you, do not say to them even “fie” neither chide them, but speak to them with respect, and lower for them the wing of humility out of merciful tenderness and say: “Lord, show mercy to them as they nurtured me when I was small.” (Quran: 17:23,24)

The moral of the story is to get in touch with people personally. People we love much like our Mother, family, relatives, friends and others. Keeping in touch with our love ones thru sms, fb, internet will really help, but visiting them personally is priceless.

      Rightly said.
To know the value of a mother we should ask someone who has lost.
      May God protect us all.
