One day an old man’s dog fell into a large pit. The dog cried wretchedly for help. The old man could not find a way to rescue his dog. Finally, he decided the dog was old, and the large pit in which the animal fell was supposed to be filled anyway.
So he called out other people to come and help him in covering up the pit. Everybody got their shovel and began to put the mud into the pit. The dog soon realized what was happening so it cried out horribly. Then, to everybody’s surprise the dog quieted down.
After they shovelled for a while, the old man looked down into the pit. He was shocked at what he saw. With each shovel load of mud that hit his back, the dog was doing something astonishing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
Every time the people put mud on the dog’s back, it would shake it off and take a step up. Soon, everybody were stunned as the dog finally stepped over the edge of the pit and happily walked away.
Moral of the Story:
People/Circumstances are going to shovel dirt on us too. The solution to getting out of the dirt is to just shake it off and take a step up. Every trouble we face in life is a means of advancement. We just got to cross the hurdle in a wise way. We can only do this by not stopping and never giving up and making best use of the dirt thrown at us just like the dog in the story !
Hope this story inspired you ! Have a great weekend ! 🙂
It is a presence/utilization of mind given & guided by Allah to Human or Animal. Use it properly for obtaining the best & positive result. Really very good presentation. Thanks for sharing.
life without troubles means you are not going up ,it means you are going down.
Yeah that is something really worth giving a thought. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Sara, it was a very instructive narrative. Thank you.
Thanks for such an inspiring story
A real lesson, we have to learn from every thing not only humans.
Thnx
Thanks
one of the most educational stories I have ever heard
Truly, It’s an inspiring story. Thank you
Your stories are great , keep on
Certainly the dog was a loyal friend to the old man, he was supposed to be thinking about how to take it out of the impasse, but the man thought selfishly to get rid of it.
This is very similar to our human world
It, we should carefully thinking about the selection of a true friend
It is very easy to be degraded, tantrums thrown, persecuted, implicate falsely, character assasination etc…. @ us, but it takes a lot of courage and guts to shake the dust off and take a step further, instead it is a fast life and nothing less than a tit for tat. This moral, should be submerged in our hearts & mind, so it helps us in future, as ultimately evil takes over and the culprit & victim both are tricked into sinning
Very well said, Stephen. That is exactly what the story teaches us. Thanks for elaborating the moral. It is very clear now 🙂
Inspiring This story teaches us that there is a positive element in every act. We have to follow that positive element and the success will on our way. Almighty Allah has also thaught us for those positive elements.
Well said !
Sana, I appreciate your efforts, for some years I have been a fan of your stories and have learned a lot from you. Wwe thank you so much and pray may the Almighty reward you abondantly.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Aameen 🙂
If that old man could not help the dog, then how about the people he invited ? They too altogether couldn’t help that dog to come up ? This isn’t a true story. BUT IMPORTANT IS THE MORAL. THAT IS TRUE. GOOD EXAMPLE SARA.
Yup, the moral is important. You got it right 🙂
I’m surprised with the action of the old man and indeed the people he invited. Whey not save the life of the dog instead of attempting to bury it alive. It is outrageous and uncharacteristic of an old man, who should exercise marked level of wisdom and kindness, among other positive attributes. It is a shame!!!
It’s not a true story 🙂 If you are not comfortable with old man you can consider a young man instead.
The moral of the story is more important here. We come across many such people in our life too who try to throw dirt at us.
They could be young or old doesn’t matter. We must know how to tackle such things and not just give up.
1. Old man called the people to cover up the pit without telling that a dog is inside. And I guess this pit was suppose to be filled some time later.
2. Old man is choosen as the thinking in the old age is quite different if compared to youngsters.
Thank you SARA
