Before it’s Too Late – A True Life Lesson !

This is a true story about my mother.

We all listen and talk about life and death many times, but most often we do that without realizing what it really means until it happens to us.

Such a case happened a year ago, when my Mom was still living and had crossed 85 years. She was at that time totally dependent on others to fulfill her needs of daily life.

I always joked with her that I want her to live till she is 120 years old to see her grandsons and granddaughters goes to college and get married. She used to shake her head and smile, and it was exactly what I wanted her to do.
Although we talked most of the time about that, but I had never experienced what it means to have somebody you love so much die and leave you. It was until that fateful day July 25th, when my wife called me at work screaming, that her mom (she always calls my Mom hers), is taking her last breath.

I left the work and drove my car like I am driving an air plane. When I got home, my mom was taking her last breath. I asked her “My dear, we agreed you are going to live to see 120 years”, while my eyes are tearing and my voice was getting coarse. She smiled and said, “This is it, I can’t handle it any more, It’s over dear.” and after that she passed away. I cried from depth of my heart for very long time and I still cry every time her name is mentioned or I remember her, which is almost every day. Please, those who are lucky to have a Mom or a Dad, enjoy their company and love them while you can before it is too late, then you cannot do that.

Moral of the Story
Express your love towards your parents before it’s too late. Death can come upon any time so don’t wait for right time. The right time is now! Spend a little amount of time with them when they are alive instead of going to their graves with hearts filled with regret. Unfortunately if they are no more in this world, pray for them sincerely.
Quote
It is better to give your parents a little now than to give them the world when they are gone.
Action Item
Do at least one thing every day that will put a smile on your parents’ face. Express your love for them before it is too late.

Oh! those of us with parents are very lucky but do not see it immediately. My Mum had breast cancer a few years ago. The op went well and the cancer was removed but she had to go thru Chemo. THEN I saw the truth of nearly losing her. Chemo is a harsh treatment and some even pass away from it. AHDLH she lives and is well enough to do the Ramadan again.
    May Allah bless all parents.
