Three friends go to a hotel. The man at the desk says the room is $30, each man pays $10 and go to the room.
A while later the clerk realizes the room is $25, so he sent the bellboy to the 3 guys room with $5.
On the way the bellboy cant figure out how to split $5 evenly between 3 guys, so he gave each of them $1 and kept the other 2 for himself.
This meant that the 3 guys paid $9 a piece, which is a total of $27, add the $2 that the bellboy kept equals $29.
WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?
y does everi1 need 2 rite exactly da same anser??????????????????????????? i agree wiv every1
dont add the $2 of the billboy rather subtract as it is the part of 27 they paid. and 27 + 3= 30 ok
the three men totally paid $25 and the bellboy gave every one $1 , so the total will be $28 + the $2 with the bellboy = $30
its simple d 3 men paid $30……
hotle receptionist passed $5 to dem in which d waiter kept $2 n gave bck $3 so the equation is………..
$25 from receptionist + $3 from 3 men + $2 frm d bell boy = $30
They paid $28 as
1.they already paid $25
2.Then Got back $3 frm waiter
3.Recieved by waiter $2
4.Total=waiter+men
30=28+2 😉
The right analysis is: they paid 27 $ (25$ to the hotel) in addition to 2$ have been taken by the Bellboy. Clear
So there is no shortage by 1 $.
9+9+9=27 $ divided by 25 as accommodation, 2 $ to the Bellboy,
It’s so simple so easy, isn’t it?
Eman A. Rasheed
since room rent is 25$ n 3$ have been paid back, so total amount becomes 28$ and 2$ of bellboy make total 30$…… very simple.
coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
………..mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,
Yes this is the answer….
That silly conflict!!!!! I hated it since a taxi driver told it to me, it’s wrong not the dollar because you should – 2$ not +.
30$ in cash
5$ to bellboy
= 25$ in cash
+ 2$ with the bellboy
= 27$
+ 3$ with the three men
= 30$ ———————— COOOOOOOOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEECT 10000%
so DON”T JUST THROW SILLY JOKES AROUND!!!!!!!!!!!
It is complicate if you take the Question to solve the problem ,but on other hand it is simple. How ? Room rent is $ 25 + $ 3 to the tenants and $ 2 to bellboy.
simply, you should substitude the 2$ not adding them!!
as they paid 9+9+9 = 27, and the room cost is 25, they may be considered to pay 2$ for the boy then it is 25$ + 2$ then it is the 27$. Simple
the other $ is 25th $ which is with the man behind the desk.
Actually each man paid 27 dollers while they ought to pay only 25 dollers – the question is about 2 dollers not one as misleaded – now hte $2 is already kept with the un honest bell boy .
hotel got 27 (25 in recption and 2 in bell boys pocket) customers got 3 equals 30 only the wording of what happens confuses what happens
hehe very funny but smart ppl can’t be fooled lol
each of the 3 men payed $9 to the hotel is $27 and the hotel receives $25 and $2 for the bell boy so it is like this
25+2=27
the 3 men consumed 27 $ and it must be 25$ not 30 $ .so the right eq must be who took the 2$ the answer is the boy
i.e, the 3 men paied 2 $ excess
It is a math error…. not magic
i think i agree with the answers of Syed Shahid Naqv and Asif they make sense to me, because my answer is smiler to them
Ha Ha..!! Very Funny..!!
When The $2 Dollars Go Back To The Three Stooges The $27 Dollars Get Reduced Instead Of Being Incremented..!!
So $25.. Not $27.. Because It’s $2 Dollars Off The Total they Paid.. Not What They’re Owed..!!
Quite Wordy..!!
Thanks..!!
The Men paid 10 dollars each=30
The Owner realised rate of the room is 25 usd so 30-25=5usd
He gave it to the waiter ……Waiter wondered how to split it so he gave 1 usd to each and pocketed 2usd for himself.
Hence Now each of the guys paid 9 dollars for the so 9X3=27
So the question is 27 for the room and 2 for the waiter so where is the 1 usd
27 for the room according to the guys but actually 25 for the room in reality
So 25 for the room 1 dollar to each of the guys and 2 for the waiter
25+1+1+1+2=30
Do u think that I have to reply??
They solved it already!
The answers must stop right now!!!
Lease $25
Add:Man $3
Boy $2
___________________
Total=$30
Simple
pff so easy
u shouldnt add the 2 dollars kept with the boy to the 27 so it would equal 30.
u should subtract it from the 27 so it would be 25.
the sum of the money the desk man gave it to the boy.
Are you all serious?
So many answers and still people writing solutions?
LoL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111oneoneone
I took this extra dollar hehehe
i think those guys already solved it
the amount collected = $ 30
the actual rent = $ 25
the refunded amount = $ 5
what the gays got = $ 3
then the actual expended = 25 rent + 2 bellboy = 27
that means there is no dollar missing since the total = 27+3 = 30
x=3 c = 2 , y = 30 , z = 25 ,
y = c+x+z , it is quite simple … however it will be more complicated if you use multiplication , because the whole equation will change making Y = 29.
here are the few forms of the equation
c=y-z-x ( 2=30-25-3 )
x=y-z-c ( 3=30-25-2 )
z=y-x-c ( 25=30-3-2 )
PS , I hate maths.
I will ask bell boy to take back three dollars and from three idiots and let 5 dollar share betweek desk boy and bell boy.
Sharief
When he return the amount $ 3 it is deducted from $ 30, but when he keep $ 2 with him, you add it into $ 27 instead of subtraction. so we subtract $ 2 also from $ 27 as we above subtracted $ 3 from $ 30.
Thanks
Total expense is $27. $25 for the rent and $2 for the bellboy. Whats the problem. There is no question of the other dollar at all.
This is a nice mathematical trick which fools most of the people as the mistake is not in calculation but it is in the logic.
When you breakdown the $30 you should add back the $3 dollars returned to the three men not the $2 dollars given to the boy and this will give you the full $30. Infact the $2 is already part of the $27 forming part of the actual expendure by the three men and will never be added again.
There no other dollar remains.
look the three guys paid 30 dollars.
they got back 3 dollars so there remain 27 from which 2 dollars was with the bellboy and 25 with the man behind the desk so there no other dollar remain.
in short it is us under :
25 rent 2 bellboy 3 return . so it is 30 again .
they pay 30$
manager keep 25$
its mean every one pay rent 8.3333333
they got 3$ back
total 28$
waiter got 2$
total 30$
whats the Hell?
3 guys paid 25 .
and 2 for the bellboys.
and 3 was the return.
so the total expens incurred by them was;
25 (rent)+2 (bellboy)= 27 total ,so
27 / 3= 9
The nine the total costs paid by the3 guys including the bellboy expens
and the return was 1 to each
however we cant count the cost of the bellboy sepratly.
25$ Room rent
+ 3$ TO 3 Men
+ 2$ TO BellBOY
= 30$ The actuel paying
WHERE IS THE PROBLEM
The actual rent paid is $25, which means every man paid $8.3333 (25/3) and not 9 as per question.
so
Rent $25 + Return $3 + Bellboy $2 = 30
Mathematic not Magic
the guys pay the rent $25 and $3 they got back $2 bellboy has in his pocket so it mean,
$25 room rent
$3 they got back
$2 bellboy pocket
$30 total. simple
the other one is gone no where..
man behind desk has: $25
Bellboy has : $2
the Men have : $3
Total= $30
room rent =25
return money=3
bellman held=2
Total=$30
10 +10 +10 = 30 &
-1 -1 -1 = 3 &
______________________________
9 +9 +9 = 27 $
the Boy 2
______________________________
29
How ?????????????????????
Think in this way–
Actual room’s rent -$25
hence actual amount one paid to manager –$8.33 (not $9)—–>$25
next they got $3($1 each) +$03
rest $2 with belly man +$02
——-
=$30
——-
it is a trick to round off decimal .
you told each member give 9 it is not 9 it is 9.333…
if you ad both three time .333.. then you find it is 1 Dollar and total amount paid by guest is (8.333… * 3) =28 (not 27)
Hey,,
It was 30$ and became 25
30$ – 3 for the men = 27$
27$ – 2 with the boy = 25
25$ is the lease of the room
Thank you 😀
25 is rent,
3 get back
2 hold belboy
Total 25+3+2=30
simple, hehehehehehehehehe
you should add the 2 dollars left with the bellboy not the 3$ given back 😉
The Guys paid $27 (Paid $30 – $3 received back) and the management have $27 ($25 with manager + $2 with bellboy) so there in no other dollar any where.
The $25 goes to manager, $2 goes into bellman pocket and $3 goes back to customers. Thats total $30 as actual.
Now if Manager discount $5 now total is not $30 so why we need to sum up for $30?
In this new case we have to sum up for $25.
Look, each man was given $1 back, means they paid total $27. The bellboy kept $2 for him self from customers’ amount so raiming $25 was gone to manager’s pocket.
I think no confusion!
Now 3 men paid 27$ Motel front desk person received 25$ &2& kept bell boy
Room Rent $ 25
Kept by Bell Boy $ 2
—-
Total Expenses $ 27
====
Returned to
3 men $ 1 each $ 3
=====
Answer is very clear
Room Rent $ 25
Kept by Bell Boy $ 2
—-
Total Expenses $ 27
====
Contributed by
3 men $ 1 each $ 3
=====
Its simple, total they pay $27, the $2 retained by bellboys. total room rent of guys is $25 & $2 retained by bellboys therefore total expense is $27.
