What has happened in a Saudi town recently could only take place in films and the incident itself could be a good plot for a movie focusing on gallantry and nobility.
A girl in her 20s offered to marry a man who is nearly 40 years older than her just to save her father from a long jail term because of debt.
After failing to pay his debt of SAR3 million (Dh2.95 million), the girl’s father was arrested and faced many years in prison unless he settled his debt.
But the father from the central province of Al Qasseem told his creditor he cannot afford paying back, prompting the creditor to pursue his lawsuit against him..
Fearing for her father, his sole daughter phoned the creditor and told him she is ready to marry him if he drops his case against her father, who is also old.
“She told him her dowry is SRthree million and he agreed. But he told her that he is much older than her and that he already has three wives. Yet she agreed to marry him,” the Arabic language daily ‘Al Watan’ said.
“They then agreed to meet at her house. She called a scholar to perform the marriage rites and waited for the old man, who came later with a lawyer.
“After a chat of nearly one hour, the creditor congratulated the girl for her brave and noble attitude in trying to help her father, but he told her he would not marry her because he wanted her to marry a man near her age.
“He then wrote a cheque for SR300,000 and gave the sum to the girl as a present for her future marriage.
“He dropped his case against her father and asked God to bless this girl, who he described as a phenomenon that may not be repeated.”

It is great to happen from great rich man and great girl…. However I am against the father ,who should as a businessman knows how to manage his business well and not to be exposed for the prison and his daughter for this kind of scarfice !!!

Its describes daughter’s love for her father and everybody including myself would praise it. But while appreciating the bravery of the girl, one must also appreciate the old man for his bravery for not falling for a marriage proposal from a teenage girl and did what our moral values teach us.
Your wrong he did fell for it but if lawyer didnt made him realise unlike other saudi immoral men he would have mrried her , these saudi people want to come to west onky for girls. I came across one elderlysaudi guy who came as mehram along with his daughter ,,he wanted to marry some girl in UK just to have sex and no kids and he said how can he control during his stay here.

When we read in newspaper Saudi girls prefer to marry old rich man instead of looking their age group, quality etc., but money, this story is something, maybe this girl is also stand for that, anyhow what Azmat has written agreed with him. There is no doubt daughter is blessing of Allah but in our world we are not giving that much respect and their rights which Allah and our Prophet Mohammed (P.B.O.H) given to them.

I don’t see how is this a good story . What kind of father will let her daughter marry someone so he can be free of jail and debt. Whole story is only enforcing the idea stereo types of Muslims .abuse and use.

Yes, Daughters are blessings of God and they do sacrifice for their parents. But at he same time we should not forget the brutality happened against women in the arabian land. Where these daughters are sometimes killed or divorced on the basis of virginity. The violence against women is quite common in saudi arabia which is not published in media. They are enforced to marry against their wills and abused as a money making in the form of dowry. The society should check and balance the women rights as well not only to demand sacrifice always.
for her good intention, God has award her what she deserves.

This story can also be a lesson for those parents who long only for sons and consider daughters as a liability. Truly, daughters are a blessing of Allah.
There are only very children who can do anything for their paents in return of what they did and here this daughter is so brave and masha allah she did a great work.May Allah make each one of us like this brave daughter.

Of recent, I resist the temptations to open messages from Sara due to tight schedule. However, once in a while my instinct compelled me to read. I thank God I read this one. Indeed it is true he who makes effort to make peace, God crown his effort with success and bless him more.
