In English language, words aren’t always pronounced the same, nor do they have the same meanings!

Try these on for size !

You should polish the polish furniture

He did not find it important to intimate to his most intimate friend

My uncle decided to desert his dessert in the desert

A dove dove into the bushes in the backyard

He did not object to the object

The wind was too strong to wind the sail

She was too close to the door to close it

A sewer and dressmaker fell down into a sewer line

A farmer taught his sow to sow to help him plant the plantations

The policy was invalid for the invalid

After a number of injections my jaw got number

A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum

I long for the moment when we had long conversations about long lost friends.

I mean every word I said about that mean man who does not mean anything to any of us.

You sound so forlorn over the phone when you called me from Milford Sound.

The ground coffee spilt to the ground.

The foul smell came from the fowl.

The pocket seam seems to have have been unpicked while the seamstress seems to be picked by the police for pickpocket.

It’s not only english that has this crazy meanings. It applies to most languages. They may have the same spelling but pronounced differently. Some may even be pronounced same but have different meaning.

It should be, “A dove dove into the bushes.”

If you say, “We saw…” then it would have to continue as, “a dove dive into the bushes.”
