How God answers your Prayers? – Amazing Story

Dr.Ahmed, a well-known doctor, was once on his way to an important medical conference in another city where-in he was going to be granted an award for medical research he had recently done. He was very excited to attend the conference and was desperate to reach as soon as possible . He had worked long and hard on his research and felt his efforts deserved the award he was about to obtain. However, two hours after the plane took off, the pilot announced that there was a problem with the plane and that they were going to make an emergency landing at the nearest airport.

Afraid that he wouldn’t make it in time for the conference, Dr.Ahmed immediately went tothe Help Desk as soon as the plane landed and explained to the woman at the desk that he was expected to be at a very important conference and that he needed to know the immediate next flight to his destination.

She told him that there was nothing she could do to help him as there wouldn’t be another flight to his destination for another ten hours; but suggested he rent a car and drive down to the city as it was only four hours away. Having no other choice, he agreed to the idea despite his hatred for driving long distances.

Dr.Ahmed rented a car and started his journey. However, soon after he left, the weather suddenly changed and a heavy storm began. The pouring rain made it very difficult for him to see and he missed a turn he was supposed to take. After two hours of driving, he was convinced he was lost. Driving in the heavy rain on a deserted road, feeling hungry and tired, he frantically began to look for any sign of civilization. After some time, he finally came across a small tattered house.

Desperate, he got out of the car and knocked on the door.

An old woman opened the door for him. He explained his situation and asked if he could use her telephone. She told him that she didn’t have a phone or electricity but that he was welcome to come in for some food and something warm to drink as he had completely lost his way and that it would take him some time to get back on the right road. Hungry, wet and exhausted, the doctor accepted her kind offer and walked in. The woman told him to help himself to some food and hot tea on the table and then excused herself to finish her prayers.

Sitting on the table sipping his tea, the doctor watched the woman in the dim light of the candles as she prayed next to what appeared to be a small baby crib. Every time she finished a prayer, she would start another one.

Feeling that the woman might be in need of help, the doctor seized the opportunity to speak as soon as she finished her prayers and told her that he hoped God would answer her prayers.

He then said that he noticed that she had been making a lot of prayers and asked if there was something she needed that he could get for her or help her with. The woman smiled and said that God had answered all her prayers except for one.

She said she didn’t know why God hadn’t answered this specific prayer yet but perhaps it was because of her weak faith.

The doctor asked if she didn’t mind telling him what she needed.

Nodding her head in approval, she said that the child in the crib was her grandson and that both his parents had recently died in a car accident. She said that the child had a very rare type of cancer and that all the doctors she had seen were unable to treat him. She also said that she had been told that there was a doctor who specialized in the type of cancer her grandson had, but there was no way for her to get to this doctor as he lived very far from her; so she has been spending her days and nights praying to God to help her find a way to get to Dr.Ahmed—the doctor who could treat her grandson.

Upon hearing her words, tears began to flow down the doctor’s cheeks and he said: ‘God is Great, there was a malfunction in the plane, a thunderstorm hit, and I lost my way; and all of this happened because God did not just answer your prayer by helping you find a way to get to Dr.Ahmed, but he brought Dr.Ahmed to your house. I am Dr.Ahmed.’

With tears streaming down her cheeks, the woman raised her hands prayed “oh God, how great and merciful You are!’

    Just A Logic Fallacy

The Texas Sharp Shooter fallacy gets its name from imagining a cowboy shooting at a barn. Over time, the side of the barn becomes riddled with holes. In some places there are lots of them, in others there are few. If the cowboy later paints a bull’s-eye over a spot where his bullet holes clustered together, it looks like he is pretty good with a gun. By painting a bull’s-eye over a cluster of bullet holes, the cowboy places artificial order over natural random chance. If you have a human brain, you do this all of the time. Picking out clusters of coincidence is a predictable malfunction of normal human logic.

The reach of the fallacy is far greater than reality shows, presidential trivia, and spooky coincidences. When you use the sharpshooter fallacy to determine cause from effect, it can harm people. One of the reasons scientists form a hypothesis and then try to disprove it with new research is to avoid the Texas sharpshooter fallacy.

Lucky streaks at the casino, hot hands in basketball, a tornado sparing a church—these are all examples of humans finding meaning after the fact, after the odds are tallied and the numbers have moved on. You are ignoring the times you lost, the times the ball missed the basket, and all the homes the tornado blindly devoured.

Anywhere people are searching for meaning, you will see the Texas sharpshooter fallacy. For many, the world loses luster when you accept the idea that random mutations can lead to eyeballs or random burn patterns on toast can look like a person’s face.

Look outside. See that tree? The chances of it growing there on that spot, on this planet, circling this star, in this galaxy, among the billions of galaxies in the known universe, are so incredibly small it seems to have meaning, but that meaning is only a figment of your imagination. You are drawing a bull’s-eye around a cluster on a vast barn. The odds of it being there are no less astronomical than the odds of it being in the patch of dirt beside it. The same is true if you looked out onto a desert and found a lizard, or into the sky and found a cloud, or into space and saw nothing but hydrogen atoms floating alone. There is a 100 percent chance something will be there, be anywhere, when you look; only the need for meaning changes how you feel about what you see.

You commit the Texas sharpshooter fallacy when you need a pattern to provide meaning, to console you, to lay blame. For ancient man, pattern recognition led to food and protected people from harm. You are able to read these words because your ancestors recognized patterns and changed their behavior to better acquire food and avoiding becoming it. Evolution has made us into beings looking for clusters where chance events have built up like sand into dunes.

You see patterns everywhere, but some of them are formed by chance and mean nothing. Against the noisy background of probability things are bound to line up from time to time for no reason at all. It’s just how the math works out. Recognizing this is an important part of ignoring coincidences when they don’t matter and realizing what has real meaning for you on this planet, in this epoch.

Or…there is an invisible space king that has the magical power to grant wishes and if you don’t pray to HIM, then HE is so insecure that HE will punish you by burning you in a fire for ever and ever and ever and ever.

    Which seems more reasonable?

It is our firm believe that Allah SWT knows everything and can do anything, its just for Him to say “BE” and its done. He responds to our prayers at the time most suitable for us, but we should have patience as well as firm believe that our prayer would be responded positive, Insha’Allah (by the willing of Allah SWT).

Everything works together for good. Who knows what would have befallen Dr. Ahmed if the plane didn’t have didn’t have to do an emergency landing at that time. Because we are mere human, we tend to brood over disappointments not knowing what God has averted as a result of the disappointment. Very inspiring.

ALLAH IS THE MOST MERCIFUL AND THE MOST BENEFICENT

  28. Sheikh Mohammed Waseem April 14, 2013 at 7:38 AM #

There is another side of the story. If we think about the old woman then without doubt it would be inconcievable to even feel what she must have passed through when the painful incident of her son and daughter in law took place.Anyone in her place would have been more self centfered and had not cared a damn for a stranger while her own grandson was suffering.Yet she gave priority to addressing the hunger and need of a lost stranger first who in turn asked her about reciprocating and then the rest unfolded in the manner stated. There is hence another lesson for having patience with your prayers and being kind to others no matter what your problems are.Emulate the path of prophets and his decipels so that one is able to rise on the premise of good deeds and undoubtedly all around we see numerous incidents of the greatness that is one the exclusive attribute of Almighty.
