# The HR Manager – Funny Conversation

After 2 years of selfless service, a man realized that he has not been promoted, no transfer, no salary increment, no commendation. So he decided to walk up to his HR Manager. His manager looked at him, smiled and asked him to sit down saying:
“My friend you have not worked here for even a single day.”
The man was surprised to hear this , but the manager went on to explain.
Manager : How many days are there in a year?
Man       : 365 days and sometimes 366.
Manager : How many hours make up a day?
Man       : 24 hours
Manager : How long do u work in a day?
Man       : 10am to 6pm i.e 8 hours a day.
Manager : So,what fraction of the day do u work in hours?
Man       : He did some arithmetic and said 8/24 i.e 1/3 (one third)
Manager : This is nice of u! What is 1/3rd of 366 days?
Man       : 122 (1/3 x 366 =122 in days)
Manager : Do u come to work on weekends?
Man       : No sir.
Manager : How many days are there in a year that are weekends?
Man       : 52 Saturdays and 52 Sundays equals to 104 days.
Manager : Thanks for that.If u remove 104 days from 122 days, how many days do u now have?
Man       : 18 days.
Manager : I do give u 2 weeks sick leave every year. Now remove that 14 days from the 18 days left.
How many days do u have remaining?
Man       : 4 days
Manager : Do u work on Republic Day?
Man       : No sir !
Manager : Do u come to work on Independence Day?
Man       : No sir !
Manager : So how many days are left?
Man       : 2 days sir !
Manager : Do u come to work on New Years Day?
Man       : No sir !
Manager : So how many days r left ?
Man       : 1 day sir !
Manager : Do u work on Christmas Day?
Man       : No sir !
Manager : So how many days are left ?
Man       : None sir !
Manager : So what are u claiming ?
Man       : !!!
Moral     : NEVER GO TO HR FOR HELP !!!
HR- HIGH RISK

Wrong Calculation he work 8/24= 1/3= 122 this is th total work days in year
so 365 – 122= 243 days

from this 243 days he have to deduct the vactions and weekends …

but that man is stupid ^_^

• Ahmad June 26, 2014 at 4:38 PM #

It is the duty of Management to help create the right environment for workers at all level to feel dignified and comfortable economically and emotionally so that in time of crisis they are willing and ready to go the extra mile. This case is an example of total failure when it comes to motivation and perspective.

Hi Sara, that was good one, I’ll add an H to HR-H to read His Royal Highness and thats what they are, who can object them: any way read this:

My Boss & I

When I take a long time – I am slow When my boss takes a long time He is thorough When I don’t do it I am lazy When my boss dosen’t do it He is too buusy When I do something without being told I am trying to be smart When my boss does the same that is initiative When I please my boss I’am apple polishing When my boss please his boss He’s co-operating and When I do good, my boss never remembers. When I do wrong, he never forgets.

that is the condition in our system, Q: how can we change that ?

when you decide to give something, you have many other ways to calculate and many other logics to evaluate the performance. when you decide to give nothing, you have many similar ways of calculation and many other logics to prove that one deserves NOTHING. 🙂

38. Rami Y. Nasser June 18, 2011 at 6:11 PM #

I wonder what happened to the poor guy’s employment contract !!!
You know he would’nt have had all this fuss if he had a contract .

Contracts were made for everything agreed and disagreed upon by both (or more) parties , contarcts were made long before our grand grand parents were even born , even our Prophet Mohammed PBUH has recommended us to use written contracts inorder to maintain stability and avoid conflict .

Anyways thanks for such a great lesson Sara , and good luck to everybody with the calculations 😉

39. Prof Hela200 June 18, 2011 at 5:06 PM #

this is wrong…
the guy works 8 hours from monday to friday ,, 8 x 5 = 40 hours
i year 52 weeks, so ,,, 40 x 52 = 2080 hours , which is 86 days if minus 2 wks of sick leave, 86 – 14= 72 so if you remove the holidays, thats nothing….

wrong calculation

40. Daliarabat June 18, 2011 at 3:00 PM #

43. Mahc June 18, 2011 at 7:28 AM #

wrong math
why to subtract ?

44. Rami El Afandy June 18, 2011 at 6:58 AM #

Mathematically wrong…
He should have subtracted weekends and vacations first to get the working days and then divide this by 3… not the other way around…
nice trick 🙂

45. Angle of Death June 18, 2011 at 6:39 AM #

Damn.

No wonder all HR managers are of the same kind. Dude, I would punch that manager dead.

Cool story.
